Thank you to everyone who has sent me an email, it was wonderful to hear from you! And I apologize if I didn’t respond, my time is limited unfortunately.
This week wasn’t crazy eventful, no typhoons or anything. We did have Zone Training Meeting and I passed off the first lesson in Chinese, I’ll explain what that means in a bit. But we also saw a lot of miracles this week and there are a few that I would like to talk about.
First off, for my first time in Taiwan, we got 2 whole new investigators in one week! Still below the mission average, but we have already matched last months weekly average in just one week! So that’s incredible and definitely a miracle. One is a former investigator with some crazy stories. We were able to meet with him the other day and I could feel his testimony and belief in Jesus Christ. It was pretty amazing. The other was a man who makes traditional Chinese clothing. He also believes in Jesus Christ, but he also worships 4 other gods.. I can’t remember the name of his religion, but even most people in Taiwan admit that its strange. So I’m excited to be able to teach them in the future about Jesus Christ and His restored Gospel! And hopefully we’ll have more miracles.
The second miracle was that we met a kid name Kevin, who I think is really special. We were contacted later in the evening, and I had the thought we should head to this one road that often doesn’t have a ton of people on it. We head that way and my companion sees someone behind us coming out of a corner store and who’s about to leave on his moped, but since everyone needs the gospel he had us turn around and we went to talk to him. He was really excited to see us! He spoke pretty good English and was Christian too. He showed us a cross necklace he was wearing under his shirt. We talked for a bit and asked if we could meet with him later and he said we would love to. We never get that response! As we said goodbye he made sure to point out that we’d be seeing him again soon! Super cool experience. We haven’t taught him yet, but when we do I will be sure to let you all know how it goes.
The last miracle happened one night when we got a random phone call from a number we didn’t recognize. Turns out it was a church member from another ward who had a referral for us! His mom lived in our area and he had shared the gospel with her and she wants to be baptized! She’s 85 years old and we still haven’t met with her yet, but isn’t that amazing!? God truly is preparing many to receive the gospel of Jesus Christ.
So about my Chinese pass off thing I mentioned earlier. Basically for the first 12 weeks in a mission you are in training. In my mission, for that period of time you work on a language study program called phase 1, which helps you learn all the vocabulary and phrases from the lessons we teach. There are 5 lessons and each one gets passed off twice. Once by your district leader, and then later by the zone leaders. I passed off lesson 1 last week and today I will be passing off lesson 2. I’m on schedule to be completely done with all my pass-offs in just over a month from now, which is pretty fast. But I believe that with the Lord’s help I can do it. We tell a lot of people that actually. When they ask us how our Chinese is so good (usually referring to my companion) we tell them we pray everyday for God’s help in learning Chinese. Its sooo true though. There’s no way I would know everything I know now without His help. It’s pretty incredible!
I love you all! You’re all amazing. But you already know that don’t you. 🙂 Life is good. God is wonderful. OH AND CONFERENCE WAS AMAZING! If you haven’t watched it yet, go watch it. Sorry my email isn’t quite as lengthy this week.
Remember, the Lord lives, and He loves you.
